Wires & Rails
Kemmerer, Wyoming - August 2001
In addition to accentuating the patterns, shape,
and contours of the rails, the first rays to break
over the hill from the east reflect off the telephone
wires and glass insulators. Once a mainstay
along railroad right-of-ways serving railroad and
utilities alike, these poles' days are numbered, as
subsurface fiber optic cables and wireless
networks replace them, thus adding another
change, albeit subtle, to the Wyoming landscape.
